Notes: a go-to for the kids
Ingredients:
2 lbs broccoli, florets cut to one inch and steps chopped medium
2 pieces sandwich bread
4 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
3 tbsp flour
Pinch cayenne
1 garlic clove crushed
1/2 tsp dry mustard
1.5 cups milk
1 cup chicken stock
About 1 cup shredded cheese (we use Parmesan)
Program:
0. Preheat oven to 400
1. Cook broccoli almost complete either in boiling water or steam, drain and set aside
2. Pulse bread in food processor until crumby
3. Put 3 tbsp in saucepan over medium heat to melt
4. Add mustard, cayenne, crushed garlic and sauté for a few secs
5. Add in flour and whisk to combine, getting the flour blonde in color
6. Add in liquids and bring to bubble for about five mins, until sauce is thickened
7. Off heat add in cheese and salt and pepper to taste
8. In 13x9 dish add broccoli, cover with sauce
9. Combine bread crumbs with 1 tbsp melted butter and then sprinkle crumbs over broccoli
10. Bake for 15 mins until bubbly and slightly browned on top
