Note: I want to make bolognese, and will eventually make Alton's. But this was a quicker alternative using ground turkey, which we always have. I also altered it a bit to make kid friendlier. I also may do some things to up the beefiness next time such as switching beef for chicken stock, ground, dried mushrooms, tomato paste.
Ingredients:
3 lbs ground turkey
2 onions, diced
6 cloves garlic
1 28oz can crushed tomatoes
1 28oz can whole tomatoes, fruit squished by hand
1 stalk celery, diced
1 medium carrot, diced
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 tsp chicken stock concentrate
Program
1. Cook the turkey until almost cooked through in some olive oil. Remove from pan.
2. Add in vegetables and saute until just starting to brown
3. Add in garlic and cook til fragrant
4. Return turkey to pan and add in stock concentrate. Stir through.
5. Add in both tomato products and the evaporated milk.
6. Bring to a simmer and cook for about an hour, stirring occasionally.
